What to expect from treatment
Dr Lopresti works with clients to firstly identify possible causes of one's mental health problems. This involves identifying psychological, dietary/nutritional, lifestyle/environmental, social/spiritual, and medical/physical causes. Equipped with this information, he uses a range of strategies to help treat the causes and ultimately, improve mental health and overall quality of life. This is achieved through the principles of PI Therapy.
In terms of psychological treatments, Dr Lopresti is trained and experienced in cognitive-behaviour therapy (CBT), metacognitive therapy (MCT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), behavioural activation (BA), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), meditation/ relaxation techniques, and several parenting interventions (e.g., Triple P), just to name a few. If it is believed that physical/ nutritional causes may be impacting on mental health, treatment may also involve dietary, lifestyle changes, and possible nutritional supplementation.
How to arrange an appointment
If you or a family member is suffering from a psychological or behavioural problem and would like to make an appointment, contact details are included on the contact us page. As a clinical psychologist in Perth WA, if a mental health referral is made by your general practitioner, Medicare rebates do apply (see below for fees and rebate amounts). To obtain a referral under Medicare, visit your GP and request an assessment and referral on a "Mental Health Care Plan".
Fees
Consultation sessions are generally 50 minutes and are charged at $200 a session. If you have a mental health care plan completed by your GP, you will be eligible for a rebate of $126.50. The out of pocket expense is, therefore, $73.50 per session. A mental health care plan allows you to have up to 10 sessions every calendar year.
To make an appointment please contact the office. To claim under the mental health care plan a referral from your GP (Mental health care plan) MUST be completed. Alternatively, private health rebates are available (rebates and eligibility vary according to your level of cover). Contact your private health fund for 'clinical psychology' rebate details.
